金額建議長輩
父母輩／岳父母／公婆：$6,000元至$10,000元，或以上。
祖父母輩：$3,600元至$6,600元之間。
自己子女
國小以下：$600至$1,200元
國中生：$1,200至$2,600元
高中生：$1,600至$3,600元
大學生：$3,600元以上。
其他親友
親戚／朋友／同事的小孩：$200元至$1,200元之間，或視關係／友誼程度而上調。
毛小孩：$200或罐頭、玩具。

避免出現單數：如$500元、$1,000元、$3,000元等奇數，單數通常與喪事／白包有關，假如千位數為1、3時，百位數則以雙數為主，例如$1,200、$3,600等是可以的。
避開數字4：「4」讀音與「死」相近，算是華人地區的共識，紅包需要完全避免出現此數。
紅包袋＆錢紅包袋：以紅色、金色的紅包袋為主，並使用乾淨、無摺痕、全新的紅包袋。
封存方式：紅包袋口不用黏貼，折好即可，代表「財氣流通」的意思。
鈔票面額：使用新鈔或外觀乾淨的鈔票，面額以$1,000、$100為主。
